VerticalResponse experiences a 61 percent sales increase

E-mail marketing services firm VerticalResponse Inc. saw a 61 percent sales increase in 2006, with net profits increasing by 35 percent.

VerticalResponse also saw a 54 percent hike in its client base from the previous year and a 72 percent year-over-year  increase in revenue from direct mail postcard products.

“The past year has been amazing,” said Janine Popick, CEO at Vertical Response, San Francisco. “We’ve released some great new functionality that appeals to a broad spectrum of customers, and we’re also putting a lot of effort behind helping our small business customers succeed with e-mail marketing with our blog, our best practices, our on-demand classes as well as our Webinars.”

To keep up with its growth, VerticalResponse increased the size of its staff, from 22 to 32 employees. In addition, the company added a series of products including the Non Profit Program, VerticalResponse for Partners, VerticalResponse University and a recent TypePad Integration.

In addition to new products, VerticalResponse also signed on a number of partners such as Appointment-Plus Scheduling Software; AVI Communications/AVI Mail, to help deliver video e-mails; Restaurant Link; ImageWorks Studio’s Agency Play; and ViewCade, a platform for universal notification that incorporates dynamic voice, text message and e-mail notifications.

“More and more small businesses are seeing the value in permission-based e-mail marketing and are flocking to services like VerticalResponse,” Ms. Popick said. “I think we will also see more small and medium businesses becoming a bit more sophisticated with e-mail, as well as how e-mail marketing efforts fit in with other forms of marketing like blogging, podcasting, videocasts and more.”
