Verizon beats a hasty fee retreat

I had breakfast a few days ago with Jeff Arbour, VP of mobile integration at mobile marketing agency Hyperfactory, and over a nice croissant and coffee we chatted about a variety of things including Verizon’s recently proposed text-fee increase — an extra 3 cents tacked on to every vendor-generated message. Arbour told me that (not surprisingly) he was against the fee and that, in fact, Verizon had been backing away from the announcement in the face of mounting protest over the fee, which applies to what is currently the most popular mobile marketing tool — texts.
