VeriSign Inc., a Mountain View, CA-based Web security firm, said yesterday it will buy Herndon, VA-based domain name registrar Network Solutions Inc.
The deal, which is worth approximately $21 billion in stock, will create a one-stop shop for basic e-commerce tools.
“With one of the largest subscriber bases on the Internet, VeriSign and Network Solutions will have the scale and range of services to take e-commerce to the next level,” said Stratton Sclavos, president/CEO of VeriSign.
The new company will help e-businesses with developing an online presence, basic e-commerce security, customer supply chain management and global trading.
