Valassis Communications Inc., Livonia, MI, yesterday made a strategic investment in Relationship Marketing Group Inc., Fairfield, CT, which uses data from frequent-shopper cards to provide customized coupons for retailers’ direct marketing programs. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Valassis said the investment would give it access to 1,500 grocery retailers. In conjunction with the investment, Valassis named Suzanne E. Griffin vice president and general manager of its Customer Relationship Marketing Group, overseeing management of RMG.
