USPS to Offer Telephone Change-of-Address Service This Fall

The U.S. Postal Service will give consumers the option of providing change of address information by telephone this fall. The rollout has already begun in some parts of the country and will be completed by Nov. 15.

Once the Telephone Change of Address service is implemented, customers would be able to file their change of address orders by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS. A $1 fee will be charged to their credit cards to verify identity, much like the current practice for changes of address made online at USPS.com.

A 30-day pilot program was completed in July using sites in Dulles, VA, and Lake Mary, FL. More than 1,100 records were processed by phone.
