U.S. Postmaster General William J. Henderson last week announced several management changes that will become effective Oct. 23.
The changes, which were announced in an internal postal employee newsletter, include Deputy Postmaster General John Nolan assuming the duties of chief marketing officer in addition to his current position. Allen Kane, former senior vice president and CMO, was appointed to a new post, senior vice president of future business design.
In this position, Kane “will be responsible both for guiding the development of an integrated plan to increase competitiveness and the creation of a comprehensive vision for the postal service in a new regulatory model,” Henderson said. Kane was also named chairman of the postal service's business operations planning committee.
Regarding the business operations planning committee, Henderson said, “Every part of our organization must examine what has to be done to maintain or achieve competitiveness in the new business environment.”
In addition, Henderson announced the formal promotion of Richard Strasser to senior vice president/chief financial officer. Henderson also announced the promotion of Jack Potter to senior vice president/chief operating officer. Both had been serving in those posts on an acting basis since late spring.
Henderson told postal workers in the newsletter that the changes “further accentuate the importance being placed on revenue growth and our overall business strategy.”
