USPS Renews Mail Sanitization Contract

Ion Beam Applications Inc. renewed its contract with the U.S. Postal Service to continue sanitizing U.S. mail from possible anthrax contamination at its Bridgeport, NJ, X-ray and electron beam facility, which is specifically dedicated to this purpose, the company said May 31.

The renewed mail sanitization contract is now for six months and will generate further revenue of nearly $5 million for IBA. The contract is an extension of two three-month contracts between the company and the USPS in November 2001 and February 2002. Theses contracts cost the USPS about $4.8 million.
