USPS Postpones Biohazard Detection System Test

The 30-day test of the Biohazard Detection System at 14 USPS facilities, originally scheduled to begin yesterday, has been postponed.

The postponement will provide a better opportunity for development of guidelines addressing local emergency and public health response at each location, the USPS said.

The biohazard detection system is designed to provide an early warning for anthrax. The postal service has tested the system at the Baltimore Processing and Distribution Center for more than nine months.
