The U.S. Postal Service said this week that it has signed an agreement with Hanjiin Express, the international express service of Hanjin Transportation Co. Ltd., Seoul, South Korea, a transportation and logistics company.
The partnership will allow companies in Korea to use a priority package delivery service to the United States that both parties say will offer most of the benefits of express services at lower prices.
“We are pleased to join with Hanjin Express in making is easier for Korean business and multinational enterprises by providing seamless delivery from Korea to the United States,” said James P. Wade, vice president, international business, USPS.
Korean companies and individuals using the service will be able to deliver their goods to the United States in three to five days at a discount of up to 60 percent compared with other delivery firms. Hanjin Express will prepare shipments, transport them to the United States, clear them through commercial customs, and enter the packages into the USPS’ domestic delivery network.
“I feel that this partnership is an excellent opportunity to utilize the combined strengths of two organizations that possess extensive and well-organized delivery networks in their respective countries,” said Kim In-jin, president, Hanjin Transportation.
The USPS recently formed partnerships with private providers in other parts of the world in an attempt to build a global network for premium delivery service from other countries to the United States, officials said.
