USPS Float to Appear in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The U.S. Postal Service will have a float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 27.

The “Spirit of America” float will feature the USPS eagle surrounded by the popular Greetings From America stamps.

“These stamps symbolize the role of the postal service in binding everyone in the nation together through communication,” said Dave Failor, stamp services manager, USPS.

The USPS also said the float is a tribute to the “hardworking men and women who collect, transport, process and deliver mail to more than 141 million families and businesses across America.”

Singer Ann Hampton Callaway, accompanied by pianist Peter Nero, will be on the float singing Christmas songs. Characters dressed as a collection box, a parcel, a mailbox, a First-Class letter and other postal images will be on the float.

The USPS said the float will serve as a visual reminder to customers to get an early start on posting their holiday mail and parcels.
