The U.S. Postal Service has expanded its international day-certain expedited delivery service, Priority Mail Global Guaranteed.
The service, offered in alliance with DHL Worldwide Express Inc., Redwood City, CA, is designed to meet customer needs for the guaranteed delivery of documents with tracking and tracing capabilities.
PMGG was launched in April 1999, and initially offered two-day guaranteed delivery service to major cities in 18 countries and one territory in Western Europe for documents weighing up to 70 pounds.
By November of last year, however, the PMGG service expanded its reach to 46 additional countries and territories, including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands and select countries in Southeast Asia and the Far East.
According to the USPS, as a result of an increase in customer requests, the PMGG service is now available to more than 200 countries worldwide. In addition, customers can now send PMGG from more than 10,000 post offices in the United States. Rates for guaranteed international delivery service start at $20 for a package sent to Canada and Mexico and $24 for mail sent to Singapore.
