Users Rank Internet as Top Information Source, Survey Says

The Internet, once perceived as a source of entertainment and electronic commerce, is now considered a reliable source of information.

According to a UCLA survey released yesterday, users claimed the Internet was a more important source of information than either television or radio, and also gave the Internet a high rating in credibility.

Two-thirds of the survey respondents who use the Internet called it an “important” or “extremely important” source of information, while 53 percent ranked television and 47 percent considered radio at the same level of importance.

Those who do not use the Internet viewed the Internet as less important, with 26 percent placing it in the “important” or “extremely important” category, the report said.
