U.S. Plastic Lumber Sparks Fuse

Fuse Integrated Marketing Inc., Newburyport, MA, has announced its agreement to begin handling all integrated marketing and public relations activities for U.S. Plastic Lumber Ltd., Boca Raton, FL, the largest U.S. manufacturer of plastic lumber in North America.

Matt Bowen, president of Fuse, a full-service strategic marketing and communications firm, said his new environmentally progressive client is looking to grow its wholesale distributor and direct-to-consumer business. “This is an interesting company with an interesting product … it's basically a whole new industry” he said.

“At first we're going to focus on the building products industry. We'll probably start with a direct mailing of 75,000 to 100,000 pieces.”

Bowen, who has a background in the plastics and coatings industry, said Fuse is still designing a complete integrated marketing plan for the company that will include direct mail, database management, collateral materials and all trade show management and planning.

U.S. Plastic Lumber is a $50 million company that provides alternative building materials in the United States to suppliers and retailers as well as consumers. It manufactures its plastic lumber product from 100 percent recycled, post-consumer high-density polyethylene. One of its primary products is an outdoor home-decking system.

The company has been in business since 1994. It went public last June.
