UrbanDesign Closes Shop

UrbanDesign, San Francisco, ceased its online operations yesterday, citing the inability to gain funding.

According to a message posted on its Web site, the company stated that “sources for Internet companies in the e-commerce space have become scarce.” It said a lack of venture capital, coupled with the recent failures of other furniture e-tailers, “has made it impossible to attract funds.”

A core team is expected to remain available to resolve any business issues.

While it is shutting down its Web site, the company said it would continue to run as a technology provider on the Internet.

The company catered to manufacturers, showrooms and designers.

Furniture.com and Living.com, two home-furnishing e-tailers, also recently ceased operations.
