UPS promotes UPS Delivery Intercept

UPS and former NFL quarterback Archie Manning are looking for videos of the country’s best amateur football interceptions in the UPS Delivery Intercept Challenge Video Contest to build awareness on UPS’ Delivery Intercept.

“We are trying to highlight our new intercept service we introduced earlier this year called æUPS Delivery Intercept’ that allows UPS shippers to make game-saving interceptions of their own,” said Kristen Petrella, UPS’ public relations manager.

A Web-enabled package interception service, UPS Delivery Intercept gives customers flexibility and control to return, redirect or hold packages before they’re delivered.

“We are asking people to submit their best interceptions,” she said. “At the same time we are trying to spread the word about what we feel is our best interception – this new service.”

Those who submit videos of interceptions at http://www.ups.com/challengecan win cash and prizes and compete for a chance to steer a donation of as much as $10,000 to the high school or youth football program of their choice.

UPS will give a $100 American Express Gift Card and a football to 100 people – the first 25 qualified entrants in each of the contest’s four “quarters” – just for submitting videos.

“We thought this is a fun way to spread the word,” Petrella said. “We do have outside vendors but we are very hands-on with this initiative.”

Today through December 3, US residents 21 and older are invited to submit digital videos of interceptions from high school, youth and other amateur football games. Vintage footage is eligible but videos of the pros and officially sanctioned college football are not.

Submitted videos will be posted to the contest site, and visitors will have the opportunity to view and rate them. Entries will be grouped into four “quarters” according to the dates they’re submitted.

In December, judges will pick eight finalists to advance to the UPS Delivery Intercept Challenge Bowl. Winners will be determined via an online vote.

The grand prize video will receive a $25,000 cash prize, the opportunity to designate a $10,000 donation to the high school or youth football program of his or her choice, a tailgate party with Archie Manning for 100 people and a Manning-autographed football.

The second- and third-prize winners, and the five remaining finalists, also will snag cash prizes and the opportunity to steer donations to their favorite football programs.
