Update: infoUSA to Expand Its Online Compiled List Offerings

Database and marketing services firm infoUSA, Omaha, NE, said this week that it will launch Listbazaar.com, a Web-based venue where list brokers and advertising agencies will be able to access compiled mailing lists and perform some additional list-processing functions. The move comes as other marketers of compiled lists also are gearing up to make their lists available through the Web.

The Listbazaar.com service, which is expected to launch next month, at first will be available only to list brokers and other list resellers, but the company eventually plans to open the site up to mailers directly. infoUSA already makes its compiled White Pages and Yellow Pages data available online for list brokers and others, but the new service will aggregate compiled lists from other sources and allow users to perform additional functions online with the data.

Rakesh Gupta, senior vice president of e-commerce at infoUSA, said he has received positive feedback from some of the list owners he has contacted, although he declined to reveal how many of those had actually agreed to market their lists through the site.

The company also will partner with other marketing service providers to allow users to execute direct mail campaigns directly from the Web site. In addition, users will be able to create customized lists and perform merge-purge functions on the data from the site.

Meanwhile, Dunhill International List Co. Inc., Boca Raton, FL, also is gearing up to begin making its extensive selection of compiled lists available through the Web.

“We have 15 million to 16 million names that we’ll be offering online very soon,” said president/CEO Bob Dunhill.

He said the company plans to begin offering its lists of vacationers, investors, cruise- line passengers and millionaires, among others. The service is expected to go live within the next few months, he said.
