Udate, ZipSend Allows Users Anonymous Gift Delivery

UDate.com and ZipSend formed an agreement yesterday that would offer Internet users who are single the ability to send and receive gifts via e-mail without having to reveal their identities.

The agreement calls for ZipSend, San Francisco, an online technology provider, to provide uDate’s 950,000 members the technology to send a gift by visiting www.udate.com, finding a desirable person’s profile and provide proper credit information to deliver the gift.

The sender and recipient only provide personal information to the credit card company and the shipper, respectively.

“Just because someone wants to send you a gift, it shouldn’t mean you have to volunteer your home address to receive,” said Mel Morris, chief executive officer and founder of uDate.

The partnership provides a channel for businesses to provide promotional opportunities to uDate’s membership base of 950,000, Morris said.

“Our members are in their 30s with a significant amount of spending power,” he said.

In turn, uDate gets the opportunity to generate revenue on the commission made from the sales on its site, he said.
