UbiQ Will Use FastForward's EPIC Package for E-Commerce

FastForward Inc. said yesterday that its applications will support online order fulfillment and customer service worldwide for UbiQ Inc., a provider of bundled software for original equipment manufacturers.

Under a three-year deal, UbiQ will use FastForward's EPIC, or Easy Platform for Interactive Commerce, to process transactions and facilitate payments and commissions for its business customers. FastForward also will manage and deliver inventory and offer multilingual customer service for UbiQ orders worldwide.

“We are committed to expanding our offerings in the e-commerce arena,” Ken Ashley, president of UbiQ, said in a statement. “EPIC, which will handle more than 300,000 orders this year and over 1 million orders in 2002, is critical to us bringing our customers' offerings online.”

Based in Pittsburgh, FastForward was formerly known as eToll Inc.

The EPIC platform manages customer interactions in a hosted environment. Using that solution, UbiQ also can create and run loyalty programs, online sweepstakes and other promotions.

FastForward customer-care centers in the United States and Europe will service UbiQ's Chinese-, Japanese-, Korean- and English-speaking customers.

Dutch-owned, UbiQ has outposts in the United States, Western Europe, Singapore and Taiwan. Clients include Toshiba, Epson, PeoplePC, Ingram Micro, Dell Computer Corp., Britain's Dixon retail chain, Targus, Canon, Hewlett-Packard Co. and Compaq Computer Corp.
