TuckerKnapp Snares 2 Accounts

For TuckerKnapp Integrated Marketing Inc., good news comes in twos. The Schaumburg, IL, firm was named agency of record for package supplies cataloger Freund Container and pest-control products maker Wellmark International.

The agency replaced Marcus, Chicago, as Freund's shop. It competed with six finalists including Slack Barshinger and Maddock Douglas. Billings were not disclosed.

“They're a direct response marketer and want to make sure the catalog is as productive as possible and user-friendly,” Bob Tucker, president/CEO of TuckerKnapp, said of the mandate. “They also want to be more aggressive in their direct response marketing by creating a new e-commerce Web site.”

In business more than 65 years, Freund mails 1 million-plus catalogs yearly to various industries for rigid packaging. Its catalog sells drums, pails, cans, jars, bottles, bags, boxes and shipping cartons. Berlin Packaging, Chicago, bought Freund this year.

TuckerKnapp will handle business-to-business marketing communications and customer acquisition efforts like brand development, advertising and e-commerce.

On Wellmark, TuckerKnapp succeeds Nelson Schmidt, Milwaukee, beating six or seven finalists. Billings again were not disclosed. Wellmark joins TuckerKnapp clients such as Sara Lee, McKesson, Square D, Laird Technologies, Panasonic, ITW, Philips and Zurich Life.

Wellmark, also of Schaumburg, makes products to control disease-spreading insects. It uses the insect's chemistry to decimate economically harmful and disease-bearing insects, calling the process biorational pest control.

The company recently introduced a product to fight the West Nile virus spread by mosquitoes. A new solution to eradicate the return of bed bugs is also on the market.

The 16-year-old agency is charged with brand development, advertising, direct mail, trade shows, public relations, sales collateral material and e-commerce, among others.

“They're looking at new ways to control insect pests, and we're working with them on the business-to-business and business-to-consumer sides,” Tucker said.
