Trunkt.org uses blogs to promote design

Trunkt.org, a collective of artists and entrepreneurs, has bought a six-month online advertising campaign that runs through January, consisting of banner ads in design and fashion blogs.

The campaign is aimed at building awareness for the collective and at convincing artist and entrepreneurs to join the social network, which links artists with wholesale merchandisers and buyers from boutiques, galleries and gift shops looking for unique products.

“The initiative is to reach a targeted design community with our Web site,” said Dev Tankon, co-founder of Trunkt.org. “The call to action is to get people to sign up for our catalog and to visit our site. We are using old-school direct marketing tools to promote Web 2.0 features and the product.”

Merchandise is displayed in 13 categories, including newest designers, accessories, apparel, art and photography, babies and kids, books, calendars and textiles.
