TrialPay adds gifts/gourmet category

TrialPay, an online payment platform, has added a “gifts and gourmet” category to its services.

The service will seek to combine offers from advertisers that would appeal to consumer shopping on e-commerce sites related to that category.

The TrialPay platform seeks to reduce shopping cart abandonment by offering consumers a free offer after completing a purchase. Free offers from about 2,500 advertisers appear on the Web sites of approximately 5,000 merchants. When a consumer decides to purchase a product, TrialPay comes up as one of the options. If a consumer chooses it, they are then offered whatever product they clicked on for free if they spend the same amount for another offer with one of Trialpay’s advertisers.

TrialPay advertiser David’s Cookies, an online retailer of cookies, cakes, and other specialty desserts, has seen substantial results with the service, said Dennis Consorte, director of e-commerce for the company. He believes the addition of the gifts and gourmet category from TrialPay will help David’s Cookies even further because it will pair its offers with merchants with similar products, for example Restaurants.com and Pizza Hut

“We have a very broad marketing program,” he said. “TrialPay is one of several initiatives and it performs very well for us.”

David’s Cookies marketing initiatives include pay-per-click and Google Adwords. As a new revenue stream, added Consorte, TrialPay “does very well.” He said the Company’s TrialPay sales for this year are up 400% compared to last year.

Consorte said the company tried some mobile marketing, “but we haven’t seen a lot of success with that. It’s pretty new and I think it will be a few years before it takes off.
