Transcontinental Buys 3 Goss Presses

Transcontinental will invest $53 million in buying three Goss presses and highly automated finishing equipment, the company said yesterday.

Two of the new presses will go to Transcontinental RBW Graphics in Owen Sound, Ontario, where they will print magazines, catalogs and directories. The third goes to the Transcontinental Interglobe book printing plant in Beauceville, Ontario. The purchase is in addition to $200 million in capital investments Transcontinental plans for the next two years.

The new presses employ technology developed by Heidelberg Web Systems, a company that Goss International Corp. recently purchased.

Transcontinental will sell, transfer or dismantle seven in-use presses that the three Goss presses are replacing.
