TMONE Takes Over Iowa Call Center

Direct marketing firm TMONE said yesterday that it occupied a 300-seat call center formerly used by telecommunications company MCI that closed in September, in an effort to tap the telecom talent pool left by MCI and the University of Iowa and expand its marketing reach.

The 27,000 square-foot facility is designed to acquire up to 50,000 telecom and information service subscribers monthly at full capacity and support millions of customers, according to TMONE, Iowa City, IA.

TMONE specializes in acquiring new subscribers for Voice over Internet Protocol, an emerging voice and data communications technology that lets users transmit voice and data over broadband Internet connections, reducing the cost of phone service and achieving functionality unavailable through telephone service.

TMONE's expansion will support the VoIP industries' press to acquire subscribers in the next five years. Using multiple channels to acquire subscribers, TMONE's direct response-focused marketing solution consists of contact center services, direct mail, Internet marketing and above-the-line ad media. The company said it will immediately add 200 jobs to the Iowa City region.

Among the clientele that will benefit from the expansion is Santa Clara, CA-based VoIP and videophone communications provider 8×8 Inc., which contracted TMONE in August to provide direct response marketing and contact center services for its suite of Packet8 business and residential Internet phone and videophone service offerings.
