Ticketmaster will close its Virginia Beach, VA, call center Dec. 18, cutting 573 jobs as it moves sales online.
The West Hollywood, CA, firm will continue to operate the 19 other call centers it has worldwide. The Virginia Beach closure was attributed to a centralization process within Ticketmaster, an InterActiveCorp subsidiary along with Hotels.com and Expedia.
Ticketmaster last year sold more than 95 million tickets worth more than $4 billion. About 40 percent of that was from the Internet.
