ThomasNet reworks its site

ThomasNet.com has launched a revamped version of its Web site to provide purchasers of industrial parts, products, and services more consolidated and intuitive search functions.

The site offers online services connecting buyers and sellers in the industrial manufacturing sector. It also features whitepapers community forums for knowledge sharing, and industrial news.

“There is more content and more functionality in terms of purchasing tools,” said Rita Lieberman, director of marketing communications for ThomasNet. “Product information has been brought to the forefront.”

Users now have the ability to add or remove search criteria to make narrower or more expansive searches if need be, she added.

The revamp includes a localized search feature that prominently displays local manufacturers, distributors and service providers. The redesigned site also provides free access to RFIs and RFPs.

Susan Orr, director of strategic marketing for ThomasNet, said the company is doing “aggressive marketing” to promote the new site. “We are sending out information (about the new site) in our newsletter, and using SEO and SEM to promote it,” she said.

Lieberman said the site is also using direct e-mail “extensively” to its site users and clients to send out information about the redesigned site.

She said the site generally receives 3 million user sessions per month, and the company hopes the added features bring that number higher.

“We always have a goal to bring more users to the site,” she said.
