Think Twice Before Sharing New Ideas

A little over a year ago, we had the opportunity to present an idea that would create a brand new revenue stream of tens of millions of dollars every year, with little or no effort on their part, for a very, very, very, very large home improvement chain. After much discussion and going so far as putting a pro forma together for them to review, we were told they were no longer interested in pursuing this idea.

Six months later, much to our dismay, they instituted our idea without ever contacting us. We have sent several letters to the CEO voicing our concerns, all of which have gone unanswered.

With that in mind, when you are a small company like us and you are dealing with a large organization, like this very, very, very, very large home improvement chain, you might want to think twice before showing them any new, unique or creative ideas, unless you have them sign some type of agreement.
