The Pursuant Group acquires KMA Direct Communications

Fundraising and marketing communications firm The Pursuant Group acquired direct response marketing and fundraising agency KMA Direct Communications on January 11. Dallas, TX-based KMA will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Pursuant and will continue to use its own brand.

Pursuant’s focus is to help nonprofits grow their donor bases as well as their donations. Tom McCabe, president of KMA, said Pursuant will add additional capabilities to his firm through its consulting services, client support, sales and marketing. He will continue in his role as president.

“It’s an excellent extension of what KMA has been doing, and we believe many of our clients are ready for it,” he said.

Pursuant and KMA share a long history of collaboration dating to a shared workspace when Pursuant launched in 2001.

“We see eye-to-eye when it comes to what type of clients to work with, and we’re aligned with the type of work we want to do,” states Matt Frazier, CEO of Pursuant.

Frazier describes the deal as a “perfect marriage” with KMA adding the scientific aspects of strategic planning and analytics to Pursuant’s creative storytelling, mid-to-major donor consulting and capital campaign counsel.

Both companies also share a passion for fundraising, said Frazier.

“It’s a joy to give. Giving is not a necessary evil, but part of the full process,” he said. “Part of the KMA legacy is helping donors understand the true essence of giving. It’s about understanding the great value of giving options and opportunities rooted in stewardship.”
