The mile high Wi-Fi club

Internet junkies rejoice!

Virgin America yesterday became the first airline to offer Gogo inflight Internet Wi-Fi service from Aircell on every flight. Now, flyers no longer have to give up surfing the Web while 37,000 feet in the air.

VoIP products like Skype video call will not typically be allowed in order to maintain a quiet, restful cabin environment.

The Gogo service is available for $12.95 for daytime flights of over three hours, $9.95 for daytime flights of less than three hours, $5.95 on red-eye flights and $7.95 for handheld devices.

Airline budget airline AirTran is partnering with SkyMall for its launch of Gogo on certain aircraft.  Customers who make a purchase of just $75 or more at the Web site listed in the special menu available onboard each Gogo equipped AirTran aircraft can have their $12.95 Gogo service fee refunded.
