The Knot, AmEx Target Wedding Planners, Newlyweds

American Express and The Knot Inc. are using e-mail and print ads in The Knot's regional magazines to tout their new two co-branded, fee-free consumer credit cards.

The Knot Credit Card from American Express, was developed for couples planning their wedding while the Nest credit card is for newlyweds. The partnership was announced earlier this month.

The semiannual Knot Weddings magazines are guides to local bridal resources in more than 25 major U.S. cities. They are available for $4.99 on newsstands and in major bookstores with a combined circulation of 660,000.

The cards also were promoted in e-mails sent to the Knot's customer base of 1.2 million couples last month. More e-mails will be sent throughout the year. Banner ads, pop-ups and links on American Express's Web site and TheKnot.com are running this quarter, and credit card offers will be distributed at bridal shows and wedding-related events throughout the year.

The cards offer special access, benefits and discounts that come through association with American Express and The Knot and Nest brands.

Since The Knot's credit card helps couples organize their weddings, cardmembers get a wedding planning kit with free gifts and exclusive offers from The Knot, American Express Vacations and other partners and free gifts. The Nest credit card includes similar discounts and home-related offers.
