Tennis bring luxury ads to TV and digital to courts

Yesterday Swiss tennis player Roger Federer won his 15th Grand Slam and proved his rank as one of the best players in tennis history. One of my favorite thing about watching Wimbledon is the ads that you never normally see on TV. Rolex and luxury jet companies ran ads starring the hero player run on TV, brands you’d never see advertise during prime time.

The digital side of tennis continues to grow as well. The Indianapolis Tennis Championships, presented by Lilly, just partnered with ExactTarget for e-mail, voice and text. Personalized messages will be recorded by popular players including American player Andy Roddick. These messages will be sent out to fans via e-mail and text in a move to drive attendance. Also, there will be interactive quizzes during games that fans can participate in by watching the Jumbotron and texting in.

Can’t wait to see what American Express comes up with for the US Open.
