Television, Internet Unite With Urbana.ca, WSMI.com Merger

Urbana.ca, a set-top box maker connecting televisions to the Web, said yesterday that it has merged with World Sales & Merchandising Inc., or WSMI.com, to execute an expansive plan of diversified content delivered through television. WSMI, an online marketing and e-commerce solutions company with reported revenue of $6.5 million, will provide the merged company with revenue and easy entry into international markets.

The newly formed company will focus on converging Internet with television via Urbana's set-top box technology, supplying e-commerce business-to-business and business-to-consumer services, and expanding content through Urbana's LocalNet and virtual communities. Ideally, the new company plans to expand LocalNet communities across North America.

“The new company will have greater visibility with the U.S. investment community, which should generate momentum to add shareholder value,” said Chris Bradshaw, chairman/CEO at WSMI.com, Toronto.
