Target.com president resigns

Steve Eastman, president of Target.com, resigned on Oct. 13, Target Corp. said. It is immediately unclear who will replace him.

Eastman joined the Minneapolis, Minn.-based retailer in 1982. He was named president of Target.com in 2008. He served as VP and general merchandising manager of consumer electronics, beginning in 2000.

“Eastman has left the company to pursue other opportunities,” said Amy Reilly, senior manager of communications at Target, adding that Eastman’s departure is “completely unrelated to the performance of Target.com.”

Since Target relaunched its e-commerce site in August, the portal suffered two outages, including a September shutdown that occurred during the debut of the retailer’s Missoni for Target fashion collection.

Target generated approximately 2% of its total revenue, or $1.3 billion, online in 2010.

Reilly said Target would “take some time to evaluate” replacement options. She would not offer a more specific time frame for a replacement to be named.
