Target Vet to Play Lead Marketer at Guitar Center

After a 16-year career at Target, including a stint as senior music buyer, Frank Crowson has taken over as SVP of marketing for Guitar Center. While at Target he helped build marketing partnerships with Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Pink, and Adele, among others.

“Frank’s marketing and merchandising experience and unique skill set will be a massive asset to the expansion and growth of Guitar Center’s brand and our family of retail channels,” said Guitar Center EVP Michael Amkreutz in a press release.

Having served also as a toy and dry grocery buyer, Crowson ascended to senior director of marketing for entertainment and licensing partnerships at Target in 2011. He was named VP of marketing for promotion strategy in 2013. Crowson served on the board of directors of NARM, the Music Business Association.

“I am a huge believer in the power of music and am thrilled to be joining the talented team at Guitar Center,” Crowson said. “The brand has a tremendous history and is uniquely positioned to help more people bring more music into the world.”
