Target Aims for CRM Boost With Compaq's ZLE Software

Target Corp. selected Compaq Computer Corp.'s Zero Latency Enterprise software this week to bolster its customer relationship management efforts.

The retailer's implementation of ZLE lets it capture a single view of online and offline customer transactions as they occur. Employees view and act on transactions instantly, across any enterprise, in an effort to deliver improved customer service.

“What caught our attention with this technology is its ability to support a mixed workload that includes both real-time transactions and analytical processing,” said Paul Singer, chief information officer at Target. “This is a competitive advantage for our organization. It allows us to skip a generation and move even faster toward achieving our guest initiatives.”

Target, Minneapolis, is the fourth-largest general merchandise retailer in the United States, operating more than 1,200 stores in 44 states and 19 distribution centers across the country.

Compaq, Houston, manufactures computer hardware and software, including commercial desktops and portable products.
