System Handles Mailed, Faxed Orders

Banyan Marketing Services LLC, Denver, and 5280 Solutions Inc., Aurora, CO, have announced a joint venture to introduce the Market Application Scan System, a solution for processing mail-in and faxed orders on behalf of catalogers and direct marketers.

They said that MASS can save catalogers 30 percent to 70 percent on time and expense compared with in-house mail-in and fax order processing and can handle any level of volume. The system debuts at the Annual Catalog Conference that begins today in Chicago.

MASS combines document-scanning technology with a specialized back-end software application developed to process mail-in or faxed order forms. The system can handle almost any type of order form that a customer mails in with a credit card or check payment.

MASS captures orders through a high-volume image scan and enhancement process at a rate several times faster than manual input orders. Once scanned, they are quickly reviewed and corrected, then sent to a digital file pre-formatted to match the client's order-entry system. The client then can download these files on a daily basis through a secure, password-protected Internet connection (or by encrypted e-mail) and import it into the existing order-entry system. Check deposits go through a central processing bank and are wire-transferred into the client's account within 48 hours. Scan images of all orders and checks are also securely available for clients to view whenever they wish.
