Study: Mail Delivery on Time

Ninety-three percent of the U.S. Postal Service's overnight First-Class mail was delivered on time, postmaster general William J. Henderson recently announced.

A study conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Washington, measured USPS' service performance for 96 locations from May 23 to Sept. 11. This quarter's service achievement was one point better than a year ago. Erie, PA, finished first, providing 96 percent on-time service for local delivery in three consecutive quarters.

Responding to customer concerns, Henderson also announced that the postal service will extend service measurement coverage from 62 percent to 80 percent of First-Class mail volume.
