Stop & Shop picks SPSS to increase customer loyalty

Stop & Shop, one of the largest supermarket companies in the Northeast, has selected predictive analytics software from SPSS Inc. to increase customer loyalty and develop new products and services.

Quincy, MA-based Stop & Shop is the largest food retailer in New England, employing 59,000 associates in its network of stores, distribution centers, manufacturing plants and offices, which stretch across more than 180 communities in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island.

Chicago-based SPSS‘ software will enable the multibillion-dollar supermarket chain to deliver timely and effective promotions to customers, helping to personalize offers more effectively.

SPSS’ predictive analytics software will provide Stop & Shop with an in-depth understanding of its customers’ wants and needs, allowing the food retailer to deliver timely, compelling promotional offers. Additionally, SPSS will help the organization identify specific product attributes most important to shoppers, predicting product demand to better manage production and distribution.

Sixteen of the top 20 retailers worldwide use SPSS software for such applications as customer understanding, operational efficiency and product development.
