Advertising agency Stein Rogan+Partners, New York, was selected by Discovery Communications Inc.'s Discovery Enterprises Worldwide subsidiary to develop direct mail campaigns for five of its publishing and home video products.
The agreement is part of a long-term partnership in which Stein Rogan will help Discovery Enterprises further develop its direct channels, mostly for its video and book products, though the agency may work on other branded products as well, said Stein Rogan president Thomas Stein. Discovery's branded products derive from or spin off of its television programs.
“It's a substantive long-term commitment by Discovery to develop a direct business for their branded merchandise,” said Stein, who declined to specify billings. Discovery markets an array of books, videos and other merchandise directly and through distributors. Parent company Discovery Communications Inc. is based in Bethesda, MD.
The first two direct mail campaigns are in market, with a third slated to begin in late December. Currently, Stein Rogan is promoting a video collection from The Learning Channel titled “War & Civilization” as well as a coffee table book, “Wild Discovery,” based on the Discovery Channel television series of the same name. The first two campaigns are in the early response stages.
