State of Washington to 'Ask George'

Washington state is using Ask Jeeves Business Solutions to deploy an information service on the Access Washington state government Web site.

Dubbed Ask George, after the nation's first president, the service provides Washington residents with the ability to ask questions pertaining to taxes, social services and laws.

Residents visiting access.wa.gov, for instance, type questions such as “What state licenses do I need to start a business?” or “How do I visit my state legislator?” into the Ask George question box. Answers are culled from about 300,000 URLs on the Access Washington Web site and affiliated state government Web sites.

Last year, Access Washington averaged 1 million page views per month. The Web site links to more than 240 online services from more than 150 governmental organizations.

Ask Jeeves Business Solutions, Emeryville, CA, a division of Ask Jeeves Inc., also serves DaimlerChrysler, Dell and Ford Motor Co.
