Stagnito Media picks Information Refinery to manage food lists

Stagnito Media has hired The Information Refinery to manage the company’s subscriber files for its gourmet food and convenience store publications, the list brokerage firm announced July 19.

Stagnito’s Food Group includes Progressive Grocer, Gourmet Retailer, Convenience Store News and Convenience Store News for the Single Store Owner. The b-to-b titles reach more than 186,000 active owner/executives, managers and industry decision makers.

Although these lists represent new duties, The Information Refinery began working with Stagnito in early 2009, after the Deerfield, IL-based trade publisher acquired the Media Group from ZweigWhite Information Services, which included engineering magazines CE News and Structural Engineer.

Stagnito COO Kollin Stagnito said he was impressed by The Information Refinery’s results with the other titles, and that is why he selected the Mahwah, NJ-based firm to handle all of the publisher’s customer files, including the four food- and convenience store-focused titles it bought from Nielsen Business Media in March 2009. Edith Roman Associates previously managed those lists.

“In a time when some lists are not being rented as frequently as they had been three years ago, I saw The Information Refinery being very creative with how they were putting the lists online, on how they were trying to present the information to potential renters,” Stagnito said. “I liked what they were doing, and it seemed to be providing results.”

Brian Clotworthy, executive VP of The Information Refinery, described Stagnito as “one of our biggest accounts” and said its engineering files are among the company’s best sellers.

A representative from Edith Roman was not immediately available.

The lists offer postal, telemarketing and e-mail contact information. The base price for postal records is $135/M, and $350/M for e-mail.
