According to the Geneva-based World Intellectual Property Organization, Denny Hammerton of Florida will no longer be able to hold the Internet address www.jimihendrix.com. Hammerton, one of many “cybersquatters” who have registered notorious names in order to rake in quick cash by selling them back to their rightful owners, was ordered by WIPO to decamp, scoring a victory for the relatives of the deceased American rock legend who own the trademark rights to his name. Other celebrity rulings by WIPO include the film star Julia Roberts and the rock group Jethro Tull.
