Spring Breakers Stay Wired, Survey Says

A majority of spring break travelers age 18 and older said they could not vacation without cell phones, laptops or personal digital assistants, according to a survey conducted by Digital Marketing Services Inc, an AOL/Time Warner company.

Many survey participants also said they could not vacation without checking their e-mail or voice mail. Key findings of the survey include:

· Sixty-three percent of travelers plan to check e-mail or voice mail or both during their spring vacations, including travelers age 50 and older.

· Sixty-five percent will take a laptop, PDA or cell phone on spring break, 24 percent will bring a laptop and 20 percent a PDA.

· Sixty-five percent of both men and women age 18 and older feel they cannot travel during spring break without a cell phone, including 70 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds.

DMS interviewed 1,406 randomly selected men and women age 18 and older. DMS, Lewisville, TX, conducts surveys through Opinion Place, where visitors provide their opinions through online surveys.
