Sportsline, USA Networks Form Partnership

SportsLine.com yesterday announced an e-commerce partnership with USA Networks Inc. in which it will use the network’s Electronic Commerce Solutions to operate its new online store, Shop SportsLine.

SportsLine, Fort Lauderdale, FL, is expected to re-launch its online store by spring.

The agreement calls for New York-based USA to build and serve SportsLine’s entire retail infrastructure.

USA also plans to promote the store on some of its media properties, including its television channels — USA Network and the Scifi Channel — and its Internet outlets, such as Ticketmaster.com, Citysearch.com and Scifi.com.

To help drive traffic to the store, the companies plan to use targeted database marketing.

In a separate deal, SportsLine announced that it acquired the domain names, trademarks and “certain other assets” of MVP.com, PlanetOutdoors.com, igogolf.com, tennisdirect.com and golfclubtrader.com, according to a statement.

“We feel strongly that the MVP.com brands and the customer relationships it developed will enhance our strategic alliance with ECS,” said Michael Levy, founder and chief executive officer of SportsLine.
