The Sports Authority, a multichannel sporting goods retailer, relaunched its e-commerce site Friday to offer online shoppers better functionality for the holiday season.
The Sports Authority, Fort Lauderdale, FL, promises to offer consumers the ability to perform more detailed searches and receive better results.
The new version of the Web site, www.thesportsauthority.com, also will introduce a new Info Zone area, which will feature more than 100 buying guides for about 25 sports.
Info Zone plans to offer tips from approximately 50 professional athletes, including Mike Piazza, Kobe Bryant and Nancy Kerrigan.
In an effort to make it easier to use, the Web site has added more detailed information to its product descriptions. The shopping cart and checkout processes, for instance, have been streamlined, according to a statement.
The Web site also will feature so-called comparison features, allowing consumers to check the differences between items they are considering.
Global Sports, King of Prussia, PA, an e-commerce management provider for sporting goods companies, developed the new version of the Web site for The Sports Authority.
Representatives from The Sports Authority were not available for comment.
