Spin Media, Hauppauge, NY, a firm that specializes in placing advertising in the laundry rooms of multi-unit dwellings, is expanding a direct mail sampling program in which marketers can mail trial-size products directly to the residents of the buildings. Spin Media president Michael Smith, who started the company about two years ago, said the sampling program has been in a limited test for several months and is now being rolled out nationally. He said the program reaches about 7.5 million households in 43 states.
Lists can be segmented by market and according to dwelling type, such as dormitory, military barracks or family housing. Advertisers in the program include detergent companies and other packaged-goods manufacturers.
