Spiegel Inc.’s two biggest brands, Spiegel and Newport News, have joined Shop.com’s multi-merchant marketplace.
Customers will now be able to compare and purchase from the women’s clothing lines of both retailers when shopping at www.shop.com. The deal will significantly increase Shop.com’s women’s apparel and accessories category.
The move comes after the National Retail Federation announced that, for the first time ever, online shoppers in the United States spent more money on clothing than on computers. The NRF attributed the increase to free shipping, free returns and consumer comfort shopping online.
Spiegel and Newport News will join other women’s apparel brands available on Shop.com, including Fossil, Lucky Jeans, MaxStudio, Calvin Klein, Peruvian Connection, Sierra Trading Post, Hanes, Adrienne Vitadinni, DKNY, JLo and Barrie Pace.
At Shop.com shoppers can use OneCart, the site’s universal shopping cart, to browse and buy from dozens of retailers. For example, a Spiegel sundress can be purchased using the same shopping cart and checkout password as a Cuisinart ice-cream maker.
