Sony Corp., Tokyo, consolidated a number of its operations yesterday to ready itself for a major online push.
Sony will group three of its U.S. units under a new company, Sony Broadband Entertainment, scheduled to form in July. The new company will oversee U.S. operations of three of Sony’s entertainment units — Sony Pictures, Sony Music Entertainment and Sony Online Entertainment.
Sony is expected to expand its offerings of digital content through the Internet, broadband initiatives, and its PlayStation.com and SonyStyle.com Web sites.
