Second-quarter revenue at Siebel Systems, a provider of e-business applications software, was $549.7 million, up from $397.5 million for the same period last year. The company reported that net income increased to $76.6 million from pro-forma net income of $49.1 million for the second quarter of 2000.
Revenue from license fees for the quarter was $286.8 million, compared with $245.3 million for the same period last year. Maintenance, consulting and other services generated revenue of $269.9 million, up from $152.2 million last year.
While its net per-share earnings exceeded consensus analyst estimates by 2 cents per share, software sales turned out to be slightly lower than expected. The company also is predicting that fourth-quarter earnings will be 4 cents per share lower than a year ago, according to financial reports.
