Software Allows Marketers to Build Online Auctions

AbleCommerce, a division of AbleSolutions Corp., last week announced the release of AuctionBuilder 1.0, which allows e-businesses to offer eight styles of auctions at their sites.

John Chang, director of marketing at AbleCommerce, Vancouver, WA, said the system targets business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketers, as well as Web sites wishing to facilitate consumer-to-consumer auctions similar to eBay.

AuctionBuilder uses the Internet language Cold Fusion. AbleCommerce hopes to attract e-commerce firms using Cold Fusion through client referrals and word of mouth.

Interested parties can get a free one-month trial. The cost of the software is $5,995 to $6,995. Chang said competing online auction software generally costs from $10,000 to $100,000. His firm's pricing will allow it to pursue more small business clients than its competitors, he said.

“The price makes our market [broader] than it would if we were asking some of the other prices out there,” Chang said. “But the main selling point we actually have is the versatility of the product and its ease of use.”

Buyers can implement AuctionBuilder in less than three hours, Chang said.
