Snowball.com Sells High School Alumni Web Site

Snowball.com, an online network catering to young adults, has sold its alumni Web site, www.highschoolalumni.com, to Reunion.com.

Financial terms of the deal, announced this week, were not disclosed.

The sale leaves Snowball.com, San Francisco, with IGN.com, a portal specializing in entertainment and games and ChickClick.com, a site catering to girls and young women. Both sites target a younger demographic than HighSchoolAlumni.com, which has 5.3 million registered users and a database of 33,000 schools.

Snowball.com said the alumni site did not fit into its plans to cater to a younger audience. The network plans to shift its focus to concentrate more on entertainment and gaming.

“HighSchoolAlumni has had a very successful beginning,” said Mark Jung, Snowball.com's chief executive officer. “However, the site needs someone to concentrate on it as a primary business. At Snowball, our focus is to capitalize on the leadership position of our flagship network, IGN.com.”

Reunion.com, Los Angeles, offers services that enable people to reconnect with friends and relatives. The company plans to continue offering many of HighSchoolAlumni.com's free and subscription-based services.
